The FAA has been working with the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA) to establish a safe protocol for the operation of small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS), or more commonly called “drones”, in the National Airspace. There are two ways to fly your drone. You can fly for recreational purposes or as a commercial drone operator. In either case, safety is paramount and should be considered above all else. Below will provide some information regarding both recreation and commercial operations.
